Basic sanitation as a major factor in the public health of communities

ABSTRACT

The defi ciency in basic sanitation in Brazil brings with it a concern, considering the seriousness of its role in the connection

it has with health and the environment. Sanitation as a health promotion encompasses the foundation of a circumspect

physical structure of water, sewage and drainage systems, which differentiates it from an operation in the physical envi-

ronment. In this context, this study aims to analyze the importance of basic sanitation for public health in communities.

As specific objectives: to present the definition and characteristics of sanitary sewage; check what means can be used

for sewage treatment. Bibliographic research was used as a methodology.
