BUILDING MEANINGFUL LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATHEMATICS CLASSES

ABSTRACT:

This article intends to discuss meaningful learning in the subject of Mathematics in Elementary Education, in order to understand the issues and important points regarding the (un)successes of teaching and learning in this component, considering the available resources and aiming to comprehend the constructive processes that occur from the beginning of this level of education. To do so, we will delve into the work of Ausubel (1982), along with the writings of scholars on the topic. We conducted bibliographic research, with a qualitative content analysis perspective, to understand the organizational processes and what happens during the learning of Mathematics according to the Theory of Meaningful Learning.
