Many different areas of knowledge are required for the construction of a research project. For the

development of this researcher's master's project, entitled The Principle of Human Dignity of

Elderly Women in a State of Imprisonment and Who Do Not Receive Visits, From the Perspective of These Women,

the essentiality of studies in three disciplines taken in the Postgraduate Program in Studies of

Human Condition: ECH - 003 Interdisciplinarity in research in Human and Social Sciences: fundamentals

epistemological and methodological; ECH 014 – Supervised Teaching Training Internship Program;

and - ECH - 016 Topics in Interdisciplinary Studies I – Theme: Aging and the City.

Interdisciplinarity is seen as the foundation for the master's research conducted by this research.

sador, since the facts connect possibly unrelated themes, supposedly disconnected, however,

present in the current national reality. Thus, in an attempt to deepen the theme and give visibility to the relations

gifts about the possible abandonment of incarcerated elderly women and the damage to human dignity

of these, this project sees in the discipline Interdisciplinarity in research in Human and Social Sciences:

epistemological and methodological foundations one of its main pillars.

It is possible to see, in the national scientific literature, a growing attempt to debate the relationship between

incarceration and gender, perhaps due to the inequality between the treatment of men and women in prison sentences

deprivation of liberty, trying to contextualize the reason for the differences between the sexes. The intersectionality,

present in the presented research project, integrates another important variable: age. So, the search

of field to be applied sees in the phenomenon, psychological, sociological and historical factors, reorganizing

such areas of knowledge in the approach of the present research for the creation, remodeling and creation of new

knowledge.
