EDUCATION IN A QUILOMBOLA COMMUNITY: ANALYSIS OF THE EDUCATIONAL MODEL OF THE BARRA DA AROEIRA COMMUNITY IN SANTA TEREZA DO TOCANTINS.

ABSTRACT
This article aimed to analyze the educational model applied in the quilombola community of Barra da Aroeira in Santa Tereza do Tocantins, from 2015 to 2021. Education has historically been hindered for the Black population. In this sense, the study sought to identify national policies guaranteeing the right to education in Black communities throughout history, contrasting them with the educational model applied in the community. It also aimed to reflect on access to education as a fundamental social right. Methodologically, the study was based on bibliographic-documentary research, developed using pre-existing materials such as books, scientific articles, legal and infra-legal foundations, data from the Ministry of Education, and Prova Brasil. Based on the data obtained, an analysis was conducted on the results achieved by the school unit in assessments by the Ministry of Education, especially after the publication of Resolution No. 08/2012, National Guidelines for Quilombola School Education. It was found that the school unit is classified as a rural school, located in the quilombola community, and includes inclusion and social diversity in its pedagogical objectives. However, there is a disconnect between the model applied in the school unit and the National Guidelines.
