ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis is an infectious contagious disease caused by the etiological agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis, being transmitted among through speech droplets, sneezing or coughing that contain the bacillus. The objective of this study was to analyze the epidemiological profile of patients with Tuberculosis in the state of Piauí. This was an epidemiological, documentary, quantitative, descriptive and retrospective study. Data were collected in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), about all confirmed cases of Tuberculosis in Piauí state, from 2009 to 2019 and registered in SINAN - DATASUS. In the period analyzed, 9,066 cases were registered, with an average of 906.6 cases/year, with the highest incidence in male patients aged 40 - 59 years, most cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and pleural tuberculosis and the Mid North macro-region of the state of Piauí was the one that registered the highest incidence of cases. According to the results collected, it was possible to define the epidemiological profile of these patients, and to observe that social, economic and cultural factors can exert a direct influence on the illness, treatment and recovery of patients.
