ABSTRACT
The present work aimed to analyze honey production in the Amazon region, especially in the state of Rondônia, which is very important for the constitution of income for families that are part of the family farming development program. To achieve the highest possible yield, the hives need to be populated and healthy during the flowering period of the plant that you want to exploit for honey. To do this, the beekeeper needs to adapt the management of the hives to the appropriate flowering season for honey production, as if carried out outside the correct season, management can compromise production, reducing the quality and economic yield of each production. Discussions about the importance of adapting beekeeping techniques to local production have become a reason for debate and studies, and the search to improve production in terms of quality and profitability has led to the proposal for experiments to adapt Africanized bee hives to the local reality. The present study seeks to identify the importance of honey production for small producers who are part of the family farming program, especially in the state of Rondônia, so that economic improvements can be obtained in honey production as a complementary activity for income composition, reflecting on management techniques based on sustainable development. Using a descriptive methodology, bibliographical research hopes to contribute to new discussions on the subject and to the development of effective planning in relation to honey production in a profitable manner by producers in Rondônia and the region.
