Although female imprisonment has increased, this growth has been timidly accompanied by constructions of social policies aimed specifically at this public. Prison disrespects the particularities of their female condition, in a continuous and intense process of deterioration of women’s citizenship and identity. The issue of imprisoned women, especially those who experience pregnancy and the birth of their children in prison, constitutes one of the most perverse aspects of repressive criminal policy, with a preferential focus on the custodial sentence. Prisons were designed by men and for men. Deprivation of freedom affects self-care and, consequently, your body, sexuality, health and self-esteem.
Keywords: Prison. Feminine. Particularities. Deterioration. Identity.
