SUMMARY


Reading literary works plays a fundamental role in developing individuals' communicative skills, providing greater textual understanding, stimulating creativity and oral and written expression, and promoting empathy and critical reflection. The relationship between literary reading and communicative competence has been widely investigated in several academic areas. The objective of this literature review is to explore the relationship between literary reading and communicative competence, examining studies and theories that investigate how reading literary works can positively influence individuals' communicative skills. To this end, a systematic search was carried out in academic databases, using key terms relevant to the topic. The identified studies were selected based on pre-defined criteria, such as relevance, methodological rigor and timeliness. The analysis of the selected studies allowed us to identify patterns and trends that highlight the importance of literary reading in the development of communicative competence. Reading literary works provides enriching experiences that contribute to textual understanding, the development of vocabulary and the improvement of written and oral expression. Several studies have demonstrated the mechanisms through which literary reading promotes these skills, such as identification with characters, stimulation of critical reflection and exposure to different perspectives. This literature review reinforces the significant relationship between literary reading and communicative competence. She highlights the importance of reading literary works as an essential tool in developing communication skills, highlighting the benefits it provides in textual understanding, oral and written expression, creativity and the capacity for critical reflection. This broader and improved understanding of language and communication has a positive impact on social interaction and individuals' academic and professional success.
