ABSTRACT
This article addresses procrastination as a multifaceted phenomenon, examining its psychological roots, evolution over time, and impact on various spheres of life. Initially, we explore contemporary definitions provided by researchers such as Joseph Ferrari, Piers Steel, Clarry Lay, and Timothy Pychyl, laying the conceptual groundwork for deeper understanding. We investigate the rising rates of procrastination, highlighting studies that reveal its increase in academic, professional, and social contexts. By looking at the harms caused by procrastination, we examine its effects on mental health, academic performance, professional success, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, we address procrastination as a social phenomenon, discussing its influence on organizational productivity, innovation, and broader societal challenges. We then focus on personal development strategies, offering a holistic view that includes self-awareness, realistic goal setting, time management techniques, and self-discipline practices. We conclude by highlighting the importance of personal development not only to overcome individual procrastination, but also to contribute to a more resilient and innovative society. This article serves as a comprehensive guide, unraveling the challenges of procrastination and providing practical tools for personal growth.
