PSYCHOLOGICAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: A bibliographic review on the subject

ABSTRACT

The Maria da Penha Law brings within its scope the protection and prevention of violence against women in its various forms, making it necessary to elucidate all phases of violence to combat the commission of crimes against women. In this light, this study seeks to highlight the recognition of psychological violence as a form of domestic violence to demonstrate its influence in manipulating the victim’s emotions. It also asks what difficulties women face in relation to domestic violence, its main causes and consequences. To this end, the article used an exploratory bibliographic methodology.
