The Importance of Bilingual Education in Brazilian Sign Language and Portuguese in the Amazon

Abstract

In the contemporary landscape, deaf children face unique challenges in the digital age, where technology plays a central role in their lives, similar to hearing children. However, due to the barrier of deafness, they often have restrictions in accessing audio content such as videos, games, music, and applications. This underscores the urgent need to develop resources that promote inclusive and enriching learning for deaf children by integrating multiple forms of language. This study addresses the importance of a bilingual approach to the education of deaf children in the Amazon region, aiming to ensure their inclusion and full development in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
