THE REALIZATION OF EPISIOTOMY DURING NATURAL CHILDREN: THE ROLE OF NURSING IN FRONT OF THIS PROCEDUR

ABSTRACT

This article aims to analyze the indications for episiotomy in natural childbirth and describe the role of Nursing in the face of the procedure. It is a literature review that seeks to make an analysis and interpretation of the main published studies. The online libraries used were the Scientific Electronic Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Ministry of Health booklets. Articles were included. from the period 2016 to 2020, 12 articles were chosen with a focus on the theme of this research, thus, articles that did not correspond with the guiding question of this study were excluded. It is concluded that, despite many years passed, the practice of episiotomy is still quite present today, therefore, this research is expected to provide a greater incentive for professionals under the understanding of practices adopted at the time of delivery, as well as, respect for the woman’s right, that is, understood about information and about her body.
