ABSTRACT
The relativization of worker rights has been evident throughout the history of civilized society. Violation of human rights is present in this context, when slave labor or slavery-like labor is carried out. This non-compliance with guaranteed rights was evident during the construction of football stadiums in preparation for the FIFA World Cup (International Football Federation) in Qatar (Qatar) in 2022. Some serious journalistic outlets and international bodies dedicated to the defense of human rights, reported to global society some facts that occurred during the construction of this episode. Among the facts, some extremes of the employer and employee relationship reflected slavery aspects, which violates international conventions of respect for human integrity. In view of this, it is important to draw a parallel between the reality found at this moment in time with the reality of some labor sectors in Brazil that also act in a similar way. Thus, this article seeks to contextualize this broad theme, presenting it and highlighting its relevance in the Brazilian legal context, demonstrating ways to disrupt the slave culture in the labor relationship, implementing constitutional principles. To this end, the literature review was adopted as a research methodology, using a deductive model, selecting scientific and documentary publications on the topic. The conclusion is that there is a need to improve and reform labor laws in response to contemporary challenges, seeking to promote equitable and effective labor relations, considering the particularities of each national context and the needs of workers.
