THE ROLE OF THE JUDICIARY IN COMBATING FAKE NEWS DURING ELECTION PERIOD

ABSTRACT

The objective of the current study is to examine the role of the judiciary in social media during the electoral period, tracing the trajectory of freedom of expression throughout Brazilian constitutional history, providing its definition and concept to the present day, as well as its expression in social media. The phenomenon of fake news will also be the subject of investigation, highlighting its definition, impact, and harm to the electoral process. Finally, the study will address the measures taken by the judiciary within the realm of social media to combat the dissemination of false information and ensure the integrity and preservation of the electoral process. Methodologically, bibliographic review and documentary analysis are adopted.
