WOMEN'S PATROL: Analysis of the implementation of the Municipal Guard of Belém in the prevention and combating of Domestic and Intrafamily Violence.
Joana D’arc Melo da Silva e Silva
ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the implementation process of the Women's Patrol as a means of preventing domestic and family violence, demonstrating the standard operating procedure and service flow. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, employing bibliographic, documentary, and field research methodologies. The latter involved on-site visits and interviews with professionals from a public security institution located in the Marco neighborhood of Belém. It was found that the Belém Municipal Guard daily responds to spontaneous and scheduled demands from victims of intrafamily violence, carrying out periodic preventive patrols aimed at mitigating potential situations of violence and crime against women, in collaboration with an integrated network that encompasses other activities within public policies for Security, Social Assistance, Health, Justice, among others. It was concluded that the public security policy for primary prevention of violence fosters protective actions for women, helping them to confront gender-based violence by recognizing abusive behaviors and manipulative practices perpetrated by their aggressors, as well as how victims can activate the protection network in situations of imminent danger.
